LEGO 75438 Star Wars Yoda Bust Review: An Attack of the Clones Display Piece

We just got our hands on the recently released LEGO Star Wars Yoda Bust (set 75438). This one is squarely aimed at older LEGO and Star Wars fans — it's marked 18+, it's a display piece rather than a play set, and it's part of the new LEGO Star Wars Bust Collection that launched alongside the Darth Vader Bust (75439). At 399 pieces and $39.99, it captures Master Yoda as he appeared in Attack of the Clones, complete with his green lightsaber.

What you get in the box

The box is compact and shelf-friendly, which fits the set — this is a decoration first and a build second. On the back you get the usual shots of the finished bust and its articulation.

The build

The instructions are the clear, well-spaced LEGO standard, and there's a nice branching moment where the build splits to shape Yoda's ears and the back of the head.

The build comes together in tan and olive green, working up from the buildable stand to the shoulders, then the head and those distinctive ears. It's a relaxing, focused build — exactly the "take time out and clear your mind" pitch LEGO makes for it.

You also build Yoda a green lightsaber to hold, a nice touch that separates this from the Darth Vader bust.

The minifigure and stand

The head and ears are on adjustable joints, so you can pose Yoda's expression, and the whole bust turns on its stand for viewing from any angle. The stand also carries a printed nameplate, and it can be rebuilt slightly to make room for the included Yoda minifigure — a neat way to display both the bust and the little guy together.

One detail on the minifigure worth calling out: Yoda's head isn't the usual hard, glossy ABS piece. It's a specially molded headpiece made from a softer, rubbery plastic (a thermoplastic elastomer), which is how LEGO captures his sculpted ears and wrinkled features. That's why it feels a little textured and rubbery rather than smooth — LEGO has used this "molded rubber head" for Yoda figures going all the way back to the first one in 2002.

It's also worth something on its own: this olive-green Yoda figure (with his green lightsaber) holds its value on the secondary market, with most eBay listings landing around $15–20 once you factor in shipping. So part of what you're paying for here isn't just display bricks — you're getting a collectible figure too.

Lighting options

The Yoda Bust ships without any lights, but since it's a display piece, a clip-in LED kit can give it a warm, cinematic glow on the shelf. Two aftermarket kits fit the 75438: the BrickBling LED light kit for the Yoda Bust and the BriksMax LED light kit for the Yoda Bust. Both add a soft glow around the robes and stand for a gallery-style presence. It's not essential, but if the bust is going on display, it's a nice touch.

Is the LEGO Yoda Bust worth it?

If you're a Star Wars fan with shelf space, this is an easy yes. It's a calm, satisfying build, the finished bust is instantly recognizable, and the articulation plus the bonus minifigure add a little more than you'd expect from a pure decoration. The main caveat is right there in the concept — it's a display piece and nothing more, so if you want play features or a poseable model, look elsewhere. At $39.99 it's fairly priced for what it is.
