LEGO 60402 Blue Monster Truck Review

Up for review today is the LEGO Monster Truck 60402 (not 60180, which is the older one released in 2018). This is the newer version of the monster truck, released in 2024, with a more modern design and, notably, fewer pieces than the set it replaced.

What you get in the box

It's a small, cheap LEGO City set aimed at kids aged 5 and up. There's one driver minifigure, and the detailing is done with printed pieces rather than stickers — a nice touch at this price point.

The build

Overall it's a fun little set. It comes in a few little packages and should be pretty easy for a kid to build, and cheap enough to not break the bank. The wheels make it roll well, and the big rubber tires give it some genuine ground clearance — but it doesn't have a real suspension, which is the one thing that keeps it from feeling like a proper monster truck. It's a fun addition to your LEGO City.

Is the LEGO 60402 Monster Truck worth it?

Overall, I think most would prefer the previous version of the monster truck. But if you want a cheap, quick City vehicle for a kid, this one does the job. Also, check out this person who added a suspension to this one!
