Lumibricks Is Getting Blade Runner 2049 — and This Feels Like a Big Deal
Okay, this one got us excited. Lumibricks just teased an official Blade Runner 2049 collaboration. If you've followed our Lumibricks coverage at all, you know why that's a bigger deal than it might first sound.
Why this is a big deal
If you read our LEGO vs. Lumibricks breakdown, you'll remember the one thing we kept coming back to: Lumibricks does light-up display models better than anyone, but it couldn't touch the big licensed themes. Star Wars, Marvel, Disney — that stuff stayed firmly on LEGO's side of the fence.
Well, that fence just got a gap in it. A licensed Blade Runner 2049 set is exactly the kind of thing that pushes Lumibricks from "great LEGO alternative" into "wait, I actually need that on my shelf" territory.
Why Blade Runner and Lumibricks are a perfect match
Here's the part that makes this feel almost inevitable: Lumibricks' whole thing is built-in LED lighting routed through the build as you go. And what is Blade Runner 2049 if not two-plus hours of rain-soaked neon, glowing holograms, and moody backlit cityscapes?
We've already seen how good Lumibricks is at this aesthetic. Their Cyberpunk Game Stack — a 2,580-piece Neoncity monster — is one of the best-value light-up sets we've built, and it nails that exact grimy-future vibe. Pair that lighting know-how with an actual Blade Runner license and you've got a display piece that basically glows itself into your cart.
What we know so far
Details are still thin — the official Blade Runner 2049 page is more of a "coming soon" tease than a full product drop right now. So we don't have final piece counts, pricing, or a release date to share yet. But given Lumibricks' track record, we'd bet on:
- Heavy use of integrated lighting (it'd be a crime not to)
- A display-first, adult-collector build rather than a playset
- Strong pieces-per-dollar value, which has been Lumibricks' calling card
